  • Message of the Day is:

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile.

  • We have returned from the 10th Ordinance Corps Reunion or at least a reunion of the 35 guys who went on the plane together to Germany and spent 2 years together.  We do look a wee bit different I think.  I also stopped and spent the night with my best friend in high school and had a delightful time.  Here is a pic of me and Don.

On to Dublin, Ohio.  Here is a pic of the crew.

It might be hard to pick me out of that bunch.    We ate lunch in a place called Schmidts Bar which is a very old bar in a section called German Town which started in 1814 I think.  For those of you who fancy the sauce this would be a cool place.

Here is lover and I at the banquet.

I havent weighed since I got back but must surely be approaching 900 pounds the way I devoured the incredibly delicious food.

My lessons at home were very easy.  I was not prepared for either college or the world.  My hard lessons came later.

  •   http://www.hungersite.com  A place to donate free food for starving people.  I truly believe it is a legitimate organization.  I click it every day I am on my computer and have for years.  I used to keep it always on my blog but kind of faded away from it but I am now unfaded.

I love to discover or revisit old movies and love movies with a story or point.  Deep End of the Ocean is on of those movies.  About a family whos child gets kidnapped at a class reunion.

I have revisited my giant book of quotes that I gathered over the years and am enjoying them immensely.

Quote of the Day:  Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.     William Dement

I also learned how to make VCDs where I can view my pictures on my big screen.  I am very pleased with my self and Rob Foster who is my all time favorite geek who showed me how.  It is equally as exciting as when Dancing Sun showed me how to do quick masks.

  • Xanga wants me to change my handle.  Thinks I may be tired of being lotsayears.  I won’t do it and they cannot make me.  Watched CNN News while I ate supper at Applebys and discovered that a grand jury would not charge a child care worker that kicked and hit a child, even with a graphic video of it.   Also learned that Gustav could turn into a nasty fellow.  Makes me think that Missouri is a pretty good place to live.  Even if we are close to the New Madrid fault.

Quote for the day:  We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more from imagination than reality.     Seneca

PS. you can still donate food by clicking hungersite.com

That was one smart Indian for sure.

  • Greetings from slightly cooler Springfield in Missouri.  Here I am sitting at my desk procrastinating my work.  I am quite good at that.  I plan to start a group entitled procrastinators anonymous probably get started on it tommorrow.  Oldest daughter gets to go to St. Louie soon to have a hole in her heart closed.  She is kinda worried about that I think.  I am looking forward to army buds reunion and I get to see my best friend from high school on the way and my buddy linda on the way back.

  • Last week was an interesting week.  My friends New York Danny and his wife Connie got a call two Wednesdays ago that their 19 year old daughter was killed when she was thrown from a pick-up.  I went to the family visitation and of course spent a couple of hours in tears.   Danny is a marvelous story.  Grew up in Hells Kitchen went the drug and alcohol route and hard prison time.  He cleaned up after prison and is coming up on 21 years sober.  He said he was forever greatful that he cleaned up before Kathleen was born.  She was what he and Connie lived for.  She graduated last year and would have been off to college in two weeks.  Connie is an angel in disguise who became a step mom when Kat was very young.  The grief and heartbreak were beyond my wildest imagination.  I had been there before with another couple who lost an 18 year old daughter to the same fate.  But it magnifies with each life lost.  I had never been to a catholic funeral and was not really prepared for the sadness.  A family friend attempted to sing “I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen” and broke up threw a lot of the song as did all 5-600 people in the church.  My heart goes out to Danny and Connie.  For Danny to go through Hell, recover and then live in Heaven for 20 years and then be re-introduced to Hell seems like a terribly difficult journey.

On the lighter side I got an email from friends Mary Martin and Dean Kalmoe, from Peking where there daughter is competing in the Olympics in Rowing.  Their daughter, Megan, competed for a gold metal in two person skulls, but fell short of a medal.  Mary said the first time they went to the rowing venue from there hotel which is by Tinneman Square it took 4 1/2 hours each way by bus and by being creative they have gotten the trip down to 1 1/2 hours.  Can you imagine?  It seems like you could drive across L.A. or N.Y. many times in that time period.  They seem to be having a very nice time and I am happy for them.

  • Hi.  Busy working on the room.  Here is a picture of the texture of the walls the color is more subdued than the one shown.  It is lilac.

It does look better in person.  The color is not so vivid.

Actually if you saw me in person you would know what color it is because I have paint on my feet and toes, a tint in my hair, splotches on my chest and white and lilac colored painter shorts.

The music I listened to when painting was, Loretta, Kitty, and Dolly, and Mantovani hehe.

    Have a good day
