  • Things I learned today.

Dropping a soft ball on a babys head is hilarious.   as is:

    flopping like a beached whale

    devouring tummies

    having tummies devoured

missing the chair and falling on a soft pillow

    hiccupping

putting your socks and shoes on your hands

    grecco roman wrestling daver style

spinning wildly with a Roux tummie on your head

bombing the high chair with rasberries is still quite funny

tiptoeing rapidly around the room and planting a kiss on a Roux head

Guess you guys know how my morning went hehe

Sometimes the Universe blesses old farts for no reason.  Around September or so I discovered that Lionel made and incredible pedal car in the shape of a train,  The picture of it bordered on the incredible.  But, alas and alack it was decidedly out of my price range (sniffle sniffle).  In November when I met Dorothy and Paul in St. Louie and after their departure I decided that since I had not been to a Casino in three years I might plop some money on the table and see what happens.  It multiplyed nicely and last night Rouxs da da and I put together the magnificant piece of machinery.  It is even more incredible than the picture.  He is still a bit young for it so they will wait until his birthday to give it to him.  It will be the first picture I post when I get back.  Only a day and a half left wow!

  • sent lover back to bed where I can have Roux time.  I just didn’t understand how important living life is when you are 20 months old.  It puts life into perspective for sure.  Today has been a low stimulation day.  I have been watching a master explorer at work and trying to learn from him.  I discovered a few things along the way.  1. trash cans are not near as stimulating when you are over twenty.  We set on the floor and took every thing out of the trash and placed it neatly on the floor and then I learned that it should be put away properly which consists of picking it up and walking around the kitchen island and throwing it into the can.  This consumed an hour of our time but can’t you just imagine how pleased the garbage gods are that Roux cared enough to dispose of the trash in a loving and ritualistic way.  2.  Then I learned that creative consumption is more fun than normal consumption.  When you place a Roux in his eating emporioum (high chair) and present to him with your fingers a plump rasberry but just when he reaches out run around the table making airplane noises and drop it on the tray admist a plethoria of cackles.  It takes 45 minutes to consume a snack in this manner.  3.  A major awareness occurred next, I discovered that if you fall onto pillows and pretend you are asleep and snore for a couple  of  seconds then you wait until the Rouxster falls onto the pillow and cackles rather than snores.  This loses it’s luster after 51 minutes, but is revivable if you stand up and circle the pillow and fall on it.  4.  Then Roux discovers that his favorite grandfather (sorry frank) has a diaper on his head which is hilarious at times.  then lover woke up and we had to behave ourselves

  • Darn I just lost a blog.  Havent done that for a while so I quit putting them on the clip board.  This is day 7 in Rouxville.  He was priceless today.  Had more fun than you could possibly imagine.  He experienced his first snow fall and was fascinated by the entire experience.  Kids performed in a pageant called Christmas revels.  It was a very fun show.  They both sang and danced and daughter and another girl played the fiddle in the lobby pre-show.  They start their rehearsals in September for a December show.  It shows.  The music director had an incredible voice.  Listening to the music with the scotch brogue made it feel as if you were in Scotland.

I have been having flash backs about growing to a growth center 30 years ago and the amount of the philosophy that is still with me 30 years later is incredible.  Guess life changing events do that.

  • Day six in Rouxville.  What a sweet little youngster we have, just so happy and easy going fusses a couple of times and day and always with cause.  Tonight we get to watch our kids perform in a thing called Christmas Revels.  It should be quite wonderful.  He sings and she sings and plays the Scottish Fiddle.  This is good because it has a Scottish theme.  Having to share Roux is not our favorite thing to do, but we manage.

I am thinking about about “Living Love” which is a philosophy of life that I studied and lived in a place called Cornucopia in the 70s.  It definately changed my life.  I will probably talk more about this soon.

  • day five in rouxville.  This is an adult chill day as Roux is at Montessori (sp)  Had a nice breakfast at a small diner and a moment of clarity.  I have been working very hard at not being critical and it is going semi-well.   I ordered a brekky with home fries and the waiter brought shredded hash browns instead.  Since hash browns are ok I decided not to say anything and caught myself slipping into a negative mood, where the coffee was too weak, and not hot enough, the hash browns were dry and the waiter was not as cool as he wanted us to think he was.  I caught myself and realized that my decision to not pursue the potato issue caused me to be disappointed in the meal.  When I don’t ask for what I need to keep from bothering another person I get disappointed and my master critic comes out. Once I recognized what I had done, the negative spell lifted and I had a delightful time and I didn’t shame him with a poor tip as I would have done in the past.  Isn’t it wonderful to know that you are never too old to grow and to know that reactions to a stimuli are a choice.

  • Day four in Rouxville.  This was the grand unveiling of the Radio Flyer feet powered four wheeler.  It was a very big hit, it was, it was.  Just the perfect size.  I am pleased we are not the type to spoil grandchildren. I did not bring my camera cord so I will have to wait till I get home to send pics.

    Thought for the day.

With so many beautiful people in the world why spend you time and energy with jerks?

  • Day three in Rouxville. Isn’t he a little charmer?  He went to Montasori or however you spell it today.  Kids did not want to take him completely out of his routine and we get him tonight.  So I have had a chill day.  Breakfast at a local diner that probably hasnt changed since the 60′s.  Lunch at Babbling Babs Bistro.  It was a yummy steak with sauces I could not pronounce and crisp green bean and mashed taters.  I brought baby girl home eggplant lasagna and a portabella sandwich.  Lover can fend for herself hehe.

    Thought for the day!

When you mix politics and religion, people usually get burned at the stake.

I just assembled a radio flyer tyke bike and it is pretty nifty.  I imagine the little rascal will have lots of time with his feet of the floor pushing the thing.  Heck I might even take a picture or two of it.

  • Day two in rouxville.  We have been to Starbucks twice today.  It is six blocks both ways and the Roux made it nicely holding on to Grandpas and lovers fingers.  I have taken over the house (ggl).  Supper last night was butternut Lasagna, Brie Goat Cheese, marinated veggies and Apricot and Pine nut Tortes.  I had lunch today of marinated veggies and smoked tuna, and veggie sushi.  For breakfast baby daughter had a feta and spinach wrap, Roux had oatmeal (he is not yet adventurous) and I had peppermint mocha. Lunch for them was macaroni and lover had meat loaf left over from last night.  It has been so long since I had a day with nothing planned I don’t really know what to do. They are all sleeping and I am not much of a napper.

My mantra for the month is an old one for me.

“A hostile person lives in a hostile world and a loving person lives in a loving world.”

I have felt very loving lately as I am trying very hard not to fight the Universe.  I am finding a balance to keep from flitting from loving to hating.  I visualize my self as being that little dot on the ying yang symbol.

It works more than it doesn’t work right now and that is progress for me.

  • Greetings from Tacoma.  We are in Rouxville.  He is darling and in perpetual motion.  We will get an abundance of Roux time as mom and pop work in the day and are rehearsing for a Christmas show called Christmas Revels.  He will be abundantly spoiled for sure.  Airplane ride not a bundle of joy.  Six foot 5 people do not fit on puddle jumpers.  Even not so big lover was cramped.  Another bright point is that my sister and hubs and niece and hubs are driving from Walla Walla to spend a couple of days.  We havent seen them for six years.  They will be going to revels with us.
